Tuesday (16 April 2024) meeting Danielle from 'Kindness Community'. Danielle was raised in Dandenong and saw the poverty and decided to give back and not only provides free food but also checks up on clients. She started a week after lockdown very naively making mistakes along the way but was always appreciated and now serves around 100 meals each week along with Christmas functions etc. Danielle is a nutritionist so aims to provide good quality meals.
Last Saturday (13 April 2024) Colin and Leanne attended our local Rotaract Ball which raised money for "Share the Dignity" You can read more about "Share the Dignity" on the ACNC or the Share the Dignity website.
Kam and Christine organise an annual Chinese New Year Banquet which many members attend and on Friday (19 April 2024) they presented a cheque (topped up by RCGD&EH to the value of $12,000) to the Monash Foundation staff and Professor John Heath at Monash Children’s Cancer Centre.
As Christine wrote:
Today was truly unforgettable as we had the privilege of presenting a $12k cheque to the Monash Children Cancer Centre. Joined by some close friends and members of Rotary, we were given a special tour by Director Prof John Heath. It was my first time walking through the hospital, where Prof Heath shared incredible stories of life-saving efforts and showed us the different wards. Witnessing the dedication and impact of the staff was incredibly inspiring, I and Kam Pow are grateful for the opportunity to support such important work in saving children's lives.
Our very own Hans finished 2nd in the fundraising stakes for the Rotary Ride for Research. Hans stated:
With great sponsorship support from many including some club members and of course the Rotary Club with their contribution of $1,000, I have managed to find myself in second place on the sponsorship ladder.
Total funds raised so far from this year's Rotary Ride for Research is $34,867 which is an amazing amount, all generated as a result from a hard working committee, support crew, riders and of course the sponsors.
Thanks again so much for the sponsorship and support in my endeavours to complete the full distance of 598k in the six days
