PRESIDENT'S UPDATE
🌟 President’s Summary – 24 April 2026
A warm thank you to Leanne and Peter for hosting a terrific fellowship evening at the Hallam Hotel on Tuesday. The gathering brought together members, partners, friends, and family in a relaxed setting marked by camaraderie, good humour, and lively conversation—a timely reminder of the strong relationships that underpin our club.
Midweek, Leanne met with Jackie Smith from Lyndale High School, lead teacher for Interact, before joining a session with our enthusiastic new Interactors. Engagement continues to build, and next week, students will elect their President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. A date for the induction ceremony will also be confirmed.
On Thursday night, Leanne and Colin attended the Rotary Club of Springvale City’s Annual End Polio Fundraiser. Approximately 150 people attended, including District Governor Peter Behm, several Past District Governors, and community leaders Cr Alice Phuong Le, Eden Foster MP, and Cr Jim Memeti. The evening was a strong success, raising $16,000 in support of the End Polio campaign. Thank you to Leanne for the images.
Further positive news: Rotary’s Got Talent has been featured in the Star Journal, with a well-written article and supporting photos showcasing both the event and our club in an excellent light. This coverage highlights the energy of the show and strengthens our community profile, and is included in this newsletter for members to enjoy.
Make sure you tell your friends and family about the show and secure your tickets —numbers are limited and demand is expected to be strong.
🎖️ Saturday 25 April – ANZAC Day Service (Dandenong, 11:00 am)
This Saturday, our club will be laying a wreath at the Dandenong Memorial. Members are encouraged to attend the ANZAC Day service to reflect and pay respects to those who have served and sacrificed. Lest we forget.

Presented by Rotarian Greg Adams (Rotary Club of Emerald), highlighting the remarkable Rotary-supported growth of a Kenyan school now educating over 320 students.

Continuing our ongoing commitment to supporting the community. Pizzas will be served for guests
🤹♂️🎤✨ Saturday 2 May – Rotary’s Got Talent
An evening of outstanding entertainment, humour, and vibrant community spirit, while raising funds for the Monash Children’s Hospital Cancer Centre Apheresis Therapy—supporting critical treatment for young patients.

How Rotary members are committed to the environment
Rotary members are committed to protecting our environment. Clubs support activities that conserve and protect natural resources and build ecological sustainability. This work also helps advance Rotary’s other causes, including promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water and sanitation, and growing local economies. For Earth Day, 22 April, check out Rotary 360 to read what some clubs are doing to protect our planet.
Attendance and Participation: Regularly attend club meetings and participate actively in club activities and projects.
Service Projects: Engage in community service projects, both locally and internationally, aimed at addressing humanitarian needs, promoting goodwill, and fostering peace.
Fundraising: Contribute to fundraising efforts that support Rotary's service projects and charitable activities.
Vocational Expertise: Share their professional skills and expertise to benefit others within the club and in service projects.
Ethical Standards: Adhere to high ethical standards in their personal and professional lives, reflecting Rotary's commitment to integrity and ethical behavior.
Networking and Fellowship: Build relationships and network with other Rotarians and community leaders, fostering goodwill and understanding.
Membership Growth: Support efforts to grow Rotary's membership and extend invitations to prospective members who embody Rotary's ideals.
