Dear Fellow Rotarians,

I feel absolutely privileged to have had the opportunity to spend the past 6 days in Canberra at the Zone 8 District Governor Nominee's training and Zone 8 Conference.
It provided an opportunity to meet so many new people from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands and was the most inspirational, informative and motivating event I have ever attended.

Admittedly, I was feeling a little nervous and uncertain prior to leaving for Canberra, however those feelings have now been replaced by enthusiasm and excitement about my future Rotary experience.

The theme 'Better Together' certainly rang true!  The Conference was a combined event of Rotaracters & Rotarians, all of whom are talented, passionate, full of energy and enthusiasm.
Hence the reason Rotaract and Rotary compliment each other and are successful in making such a difference to the lives of so many people around the world.

There was so much positivity and excitement throughout the entire 6 days, much of it due to the fact that we were all able to meet and socialise in person once again.

It was wonderful to have Brian Ashworth and Peter Faulkner at the Showcase, there was a great deal of interest and endless number of positive comments about the SkyHydrants.

The END POLIO walk was a fabulous end to an incredible experience.

Some of us will be attending the Rotary Club of Casey's 'Wheelchairs for Kids' event tomorrow night which I'm sure will be a very successful fundraiser.

On behalf of all our club members, I wish Cherie Ramsay a very speedy recovery from a recent back problem.
I hope everyone else is staying healthy and well.

On a final note, after hearing lots of stories about Rotary Clubs and projects it reinforces how fortunate we are to be members of such a great club.

I'm looking forward to seeing all of you again very soon.

Kind regards,

Leanne

Final Playground Removal 2021/2022

Playground removal

The final playground harvest for the Rotary year was completed on a drizzly 27th June morning in Noble Park. Under the control of 'Friend of Rotary' Mel, Hans, Con and Andrew De Z, with “special comments” and tips from District RORP Supremo, Wayne, of Mt Martha, the work was completed in 3.5 hours.
This was a sizeable and sophisticated playground and, after refurbishment, will be shipped to Cape Town in South Africa and re-erected in a poor area. The local children will be absolutely overjoyed. The benefits should last a long time.

Cornerstone Newsletter
Cornerstone Contact Centre Gazette
June 2022

Hi friends,

At Cornerstone Contact Centre, we have just reached the remarkable milestone of 30 years helping homeless and marginalised in Greater Dandenong. The number of lives that have been improved through the care and support of our team and broader community over these thirty years is just phenomenal. I'm sure you will agree that it is an amazing opportunity to celebrate the many individuals, families, organisations, local businesses, and agencies, not to mention staff, volunteers and board members (current and previous) who have each contributed towards the wonderful work of Cornerstone.

Earlier this week I was chatting with a community member who has been coming along to Cornerstone for over 15 years. With a big smile, he shared "the Cornerstone team are like my family." He feels loved and cared for here, and he is always keen to get involved wherever he can.

In August, we will be celebrating this milestone with a Gala Night fundraising dinner. This will be a great time to celebrate the work of Cornerstone, and to thank all who have been involved over the years. We would love for you to attend. All of the details can be found below, along with a booking link for tickets. Why not put together a table with friends and family, and join us to celebrate! All funds raised on the night will contribute to the ongoing work of this special organisation.

With my thanks for the support and care that you continue to show to the homeless and marginalised from our community.
