Dear Fellow Rotarians,

I hope you have all enjoyed the Easter long weekend and are looking forward to getting back to Rotary tomorrow night.

Those of us who attended the Andrew's Centre last Tuesday, enjoyed a lovely meal which was prepared and served by volunteers.
Judy Martin spoke about Endeavour Ministries and The Andrew's Centre which has been in operation for almost 30 years.
Judy and her team of volunteers are truly amazing, devoting their time to helping people in the Community who are in desperate need of emergency accommodation, health information and referral, mental health and general counselling, as well as food relief amongst other things.

On Thursday, Hans and I had the pleasure of attending Operation NewStart Casey's Graduation Ceremony.  The students were absolutely inspirational, their determination, bravery, commitment and honesty are to be commended.  These young people had been disengaged from school and were fortunate to be referred to take part in the 7-week personal development program, which has completely transformed their lives.

Both organisations are recipients of a $2,000 donation from our Car Show profits.

Tomorrow night we are having a joint meeting at the Dandenong Club, with the Rotary Club of Casey.  Please be sure to put your RSVP on ClubRunner tomorrow morning if you haven't already done so.  We will be in the Napoleon Room, which is beside the Bistro.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards,

Leanne

Andrews Centre Visit April 4th 2023
A wonderful visit to the Andrew's centre last Tuesday night. Judy and her team put on a wonderful dinner for our members and
visiting Rotarian  Brian Woodman from the RC Springvale City.

Endeavour Ministries is a non-profit charitable organisation which seeks to provide for those who are in need for whatever reason
- the lonely, the depressed, the ill and those in financial difficulties.

The Andrews Centre provides many services including crisis food, clothing, financial assistance, a food co-operative, community
outings and events, legal and psychological counselling, support groups, no interest loans and a community facility for other non-
profit groups.  It runs an Opp Shop, Endeavour Emergency Houses, Monday and Thursday meal services and a Community Garden.

President Leanne presented Judy a donation of $2000 from the All Holden Car Show and another $500+ from the meal proceeds.

Operation Newstart Casey
President Leanne gratefully accepted an appreciation plaque for the Club's support of Operation Newstart
Casy at Intake #57 Graduation on Thursday 6th April. Operation Newstart provides personal development
programs for young people considered 'at risk' of disengaging from education. Participants aged between
13 - 16 years of age, who are enrolled in partner secondary colleges are referred via school teach staff.
Operation Newstart programs typically involve a variety of life skills, community engagement and
adventure based activities delivered by DET education, YSAS and Headspace staff.

The Club made a donation of $2,000 from the Car Show proceeds

Welcome to the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program. Run in conjunction with District 9820, this program is a transformational leadership conference open to 18- to 30-year-olds who are looking to develop their leadership potential, build lasting connections and gain new insights and experiences.

It focuses on

  • Personal development, leadership, and teamwork.
  • Provide conflict resolution strategies alongside leadership training.
  • Emphasize professional development and connect participants with opportunities to serve the community through Rotary.
  • Combine leadership development and vocational training to help young people discover their potential and hone skills.

Participants will engage in a range of activities, including workshops, team- building exercises, outdoor activities, and guest speaker presentations.

Our program is led by experienced facilitators and mentors who are dedicated to helping participant achieve their full potential. We are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can learn, grow and thrive.
