Dear Fellow Rotarians,
This weekend provided an experience which I believe all Rotarians should have the opportunity to take part in at some stage in their Rotary journey.
The District 9820 Conference at Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula was a welcoming, friendly, fun and inspirational event.
Unfortunately I didn't get to listen to some of the amazing guest speakers due to being unwell, however the presentations I did see and hear were exceptional.
Kevin Sheedy was a highlight at this morning's breakfast, if we could all take on some of his dynamic leadership approach, insight and determination, we could certainly change this world we live in.
I was extremely disappointed to miss Samuel Johnson yesterday, the feedback about his presentation was incredible and I was told there was not a dry eye to be seen in the room of more than 200 people.
It's such a pity that Conferences are often out of financial reach for some Rotarians.
Next year's conference will be in Warrnambool where there is sure to be some 'Budget Accommodation' and the opportunity for those with caravans to hook them up and take a trip to Conference.
If we start planning soon, I'm sure we can get many of our club members to put the dates in their diaries and in their budgets, then begin planning for a wonderful break and fellowship at what's sure to be another amazing event.
On a club note now, a huge thank you to Martin Pater for running last Tuesday's meeting in my absence and to Phil for being the Chairperson.
I believe the two guest speakers were really good and everything went well including the change of the meeting format for the arrival and fellowship.
I heard from several people that the dinners were delivered promptly and that Julia did a fabulous job assisting the other staff in order to make this work for us.
Thanks to John Ternel for all his hard work and the Car Show Committee assisting to organise this huge event, which is taking place on Sunday 12th March.
We have 12 club members attending the Rowville-Lysterfield joint meeting on Tuesday night for dinner and to hear Frida Umuhoza, survivor of the genocide of Tutsi people in Rwanda.
I look forward to catching up on Tuesday night with those of you who are going and hope to see others the following week at the Dandenong Club.
Kind regards,
Leanne
