President's Message
 A message on behalf of
Interim President John Peck

We had a great attendance at last week's meeting, it was good to see many of our members back after the break, prospective member Mehwish and visitor John Leng who came along to find out more about Rotary.
We also had the opportunity to have Past District Governor Tony Spring, President Maree and two other members from the Rotary Club of Frankston North visiting our club for the night.
Thanks to John Ternel who gave a great insight into the work currently being done to facilitate the car show which is a major fundraiser and allows us to do fantastic work in our community (full article below).

An email went out Sunday 4 Feb 2024 as to last years (2023) member tasks and proposed allocated roles for (2024) roles. If you can please respond back to confirm the proposed allocated roles are suitable, wish to change or have been missed out completely nominate a role then please respond asap.

This week's meeting (6 Feb) we will have Brian Ashworth talking about the recent trip to assist (through Disaster Aid Australia) in the Thailand Floods disaster (including the deployment of 4 skyhydrants).
It should be an interesting talk on working in disaster zones.

PLEASE  RSVP as soon as possible.

On Tuesday February 6th, Kam Pow, Peter Faulkner & Brian Ashworth will be cooking a BBQ lunch at Dandenong Chisholm for their 'Orientation Festival'.
It's great for Rotary to have a 'visual' volunteer presence at such events, thanks Kam, Pete & Brian.

  Cheers,

  John Peck.

VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED for the
Car Show on
Monday March 10th.
John Ternel has done an enormous amount of preparation for this event, so PLEASE support him and OUR CLUB by volunteering on the day.
There are many different roles to be filled, if you're not sure where you would like to assist, speak to John tomorrow night.
It would be fantastic if John could leave
tomorrow night's meeting with all jobs filled.

Let's get out there in full force and put Rotary on display for all patrons to see and perhaps even ask
'How do I join Rotary?!
Tuesday saw a packed meeting in the Napoleon room.

4 Members from Frankston North were in attendance as part of their "Scatter night" (they cancel their normal meeting and go to other clubs which is a great idea).

John Peck opened in his usual style,
Hans van Dyk spoke about the pending District 9810 bike ride (based on 'ride to conference'), see last week's Gateway to support Hans by sponsorship.
Past District Governor, Tony Spring spoke about the Rotary March Against Malaria and you can see more information here
Key note speaker was out own John Ternel, who gave a great insight into what is involved behind the scenes in setting up and running the car show.
The reasons for some of the decisions, negotiations
with sponsors promotion / marketing and getting sufficient volunteers to run the show. Insights of which most of us were not aware of and the significant effort involved to make it happen.

Rotarian Brian A, John T, Pete, Hans (with Ring in Bruce Finlayson) at the Penrite Racing fan open day.
The calls went out earlier this week for volunteers (who were "flat chat" controlling car entry / parking and donation to club and /or sponsorship to our All Holden Car Show expected to follow. Great effort by members.
