Last Tuesday night we heard from Neha Shibu, a 4th Year medical student, about TeamMED Nepal.
I received a thank you email from Neha for our club's very generous donation of $3,000, which will allow Neha and the team to be well and truly on track to meet their financial goal of $6,000 this year.
This will make a tangible impact in the Bhakanje community.
We look forward to having Neha and Rachel visit our club early in 2023 to tell us all about the incredible work which will be done during their trip to Nepal in December.
We also had the pleasure of hearing from Rob Cook and Nigel Cousins about the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards which is an intensive leadership experience organised by Rotary clubs and districts.
Candidates between the ages of 18-30 years, are given the opportunity to develop leadership skills, forming new friendships and connecting with other likeminded people, while having lots of fun.
The benefits from this program open up so many doors of opportunity for these young people.
Our club is looking to sponsor a young candidate for the RYLA program. Please let us know if you have anyone in mind who would be a suitable candidate.
In my opinion, Youth are the future of Rotary, the more we can do to help them develop leadership skills and to become involved in Community service activities, the more likely they are to consider joining a Rotary Club in the future.
It's very exciting that our Sri Lankan Orphanage Project has begun! Please see all the details and photo's below.
We certainly have a busy month ahead of us, with the Rotary International Convention in Melbourne at the end of May.
It will be a very busy, interesting and inspiring week in Melbourne.
I'm hoping you've all seen the email requesting Volunteers to assist during the convention. If you are interested or have any questions about volunteering, please email myself or Colin.
Be sure to read the newsletter which contains information about the Convention and upcoming Rotary events.
