President's Message

Good morning fellow Rotarians,

I'd like to begin with a reminder for tomorrow night's meeting, currently we only have 10 members registered to attend and 5 declines on ClubRunner.  Please register or decline ASAP.
We have a Guest Speaker from Windermere Child and Family Services attending our meeting, to whom the club donated $2,000 from the Car Show proceeds.

The International Convention is now over and what a fantastic event it was!  Colin & I had the pleasure of attending the President's Recognition Lunch, the Flemington Racecourse dinner 'Imagine the Race that stops a Nation', the Gala Dinner in the Plaza Ballroom and the incredible Closing Ceremony.
We also had the opportunity to attend several of the breakout sessions, connect with Rotarians from all around the Globe and enjoy some motivating and inspiring discussions with fellow Rotarians.

It was lovely to see so many of our Club members in the House of Friendship, I hope you all enjoyed it as much as Colin and I did.
Thanks to the team from Disaster Aid Australia for putting together the amazing stand, for spreading the word and creating awareness of the amazing work DAA does.  We are all extremely proud to have the 'Clean Water Project' as our major international project.

On Saturday, we had a very productive working bee at the Seamons Court, Endeavour Hills property.
A huge thanks to Neil Fullard for all his hard work and the organisation he has put into this project.
Within the next couple of weeks, we hope to have the house well and truly ready to sell.
I'd also like to thank Phil & John for all their help over the past weeks and to all those who helped out on Sunday: Neil, Phil, John, Brian, Terry, Janet, Peter Faulkner, Kam and Peter Buck.
We were all very grateful to Val, who kindly delivered our morning tea.

The end of this Rotary year is rapidly approaching.  All the upcoming events are on this newsletter so please RSVP as soon as possible.

On Tuesday 13th June, we have James Seeary from Operation NewStart coming along as our Guest Speaker and also Ron Brooks from District 9810 talking about the UNICEF foreign coin project.
Then on Tuesday 20th June, Farrah Buckland from the Caroline Chisholm Foundation will be our Guest Speaker.

Our final big event will be the Changeover on Tuesday 27th June when we will have the pleasure of inducting our President for 2023-2024 Cherie Ramsay.
As per your invitations, if you haven't already done so, please RSVP to Martin and make payment (details on the invitation) into the club's Admin bank account.

I look forward to seeing you tomorrow night.

Kind regards,

Leanne

2023 RI Convention Highlights
Approximately 14,000 Rotarians and guests from around the world attended the 2023 Rotary International
Convention held at the Rod Laver Arena and the Melbourne & Exhibition Centre from 27th May to 31st May.

For those from the Club that attended the Convention or visited the House of Friendship had a wonderful time,
listening to incredible speakers, attended workshops, heard and saw the incredible work being done around the
world and making international friends. An amazing opening and closing ceremony listening to the wonderful
RI President Jennifer Jones (Imagine Rotary), RI President Elect Gordon McInally (Hope in The World) and
RI President Nominee Stephanie Urchick.

Melbourne was on show and there was plenty of outside events that
Rotarians could sign up for including a Night at the Museum, Flemington Racecourse, the streets of Melbourne
to sample the cuisine amongst other things.

The highlight for our Club was the DAA stand in the House of Friendship. It attracted much interest from Rotarians
from around the world. A big thanks to Brian, Cherie, Peter and the amazing DAA team.
