Many of us recall the news of Jared Dunscombe that died on a Ride to (Rotary) Conference and his sister Jonelle outlined how this led them to form the "
Jared Dunscombe foundation" and many of the Major projects that the Foundation has since been involved in.
These included:
* ROMAC (
Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children) child sponsorship.
* Elimination of Scabies in an Aboriginal Community
* Right for Pups (that train up and pups for people with Autism and also diabetes early seizure detection)
* Art Therapists at Ronald McDonald House
* Camp Magic that support children that have lost a sibling or parent (1 in 20 children lose a parent before they turn 18) and will be their major project for this year.
The foundation makes money through the annual walk, cocktail functions, movie nights and others do fundraising as well.
The Jarad Dunscombe Foundation will be celebrating on the 17 August 2024 for their 10th year with a 10 year Gala dinner at the State Library. Hopefully there will be more information and how to purchase tickets in the coming week.
RORP (Rotary Overseas Recycled Playgrounds) were at it again on Thursday 11 April 2024 with the removal of the playground in Browns Road Noble Park North. Hans, Howard & Terry led by our clubs RORP coordinator Melinda braved the forecast wet weather to be relieved when it did not rain and with District RORP coordinator Wayne all assisted in the removal of the playground! When Rotary is involved the Playground is dismantled, removed, refurbished and given a second life overseas while the footings finds its way to concrete recycler so landfill greatly reduced and everyone wins.
