Unfortunately we are unable to use the Napoleon Room at the Dandenong Club as they took a booking a couple of weeks ago for a 'larger group' booking.
CLEANAWAY 'Family Day BBQ' - On Saturday we had several members joining me to run the BBQ, a big THANK YOU to Phillip Thurgood (for the organisation and for assisting on the day), Anthony Brown, Peter Buck, Ben Keller, Colin Byron, Leanne Byron and Alan Collier.
Cheers,
John Peck
14 November 2023 meeting saw John Peck chairing the meeting and went over the income from last weeks BBQ, upcoming events (including the Cleanaway Family BBQ, Disaster Aid conference and the upcoming talk on 28th Nov (see below).
Leanne spoke about the Polio Plus Society Launch event which her and District Governor Elect Colin attended on Sunday12th November. The Grand Ridge Brewery was a great venue for the event.
The Society is asking for donation commitments from Rotarians for each year until polio is eradicated.
On Tuesday night, Peter Faulkner introduced Cassim Rawal (Chief Investment Officer) of RMBL who was invited along to advise members of the benefits associated with investing with them.
Several of our members invest have been investing with them for many years and believe it would be worthwhile considering RMBL for the investment of funds from the settlement of the Seamons Court property.
Cassim outlined the organisations risk management and investment strategy and opened the floor to questions. The talk was quite informative.
Saturday 18 November 2023 Cleanaway Family Day BBQ, run by members (John, Ben, Anthony, Colin, Leanne, Peter, Phil and Alan) feeding around 350 hungry people (extra sausages had to be purchased). Cleanaway had a great live band, jumping castle, abseiling tower, ice-cream truck and popcorn.
Cleanaway would be a great place to have a club Vocational visit. Some of our members had the opportunity to visit the site a number of years ago.
Another great Disaster Aid Conference
held at the Dandenong Club
Sunday 19th November.
CAN YOU HELP?
We are looking for one of our Club Members to investigate how to register as a
donation partner in the
Victorian Container Deposit Scheme Registration.
This is a great Fundraising opportunity/club project.
Return-It is an easy way to deposit containers whilst helping the environment and community, encouraging you to ‘create a habit’ of recycling for a greener future.
