Well what a great meeting we had on Tuesday night learning all about Grow from our guest speaker Julianne.  Grow is a community based organisations that helps people recover from mental ill health through peer support and personal development based on a 12 step program.  Julianne was able to provide a first-hand account of how Grow works through her own experiences with mental health crisis which she was able to work through by attending Grow meetings.

You can learn more about Grow on their website https://grow.org.au

This was a very fitting guest speaker to have leading up to the Healthy Minds Forum which is only a few weeks away and given that Mental Health is a focus for our RI President, Gordon McInally.

We also acknowledged two special anniversaries; congratulations to Terry and Joe who both achieved 21 years with Rotary on July 1st.

The club’s house in Endeavour Hills is close to being put back on the market. Unfortunately we have discovered that a carport that was put up on the property did not have approval and was actually not safe so that needs to come down.  Once that is done and the final work is done new photos and videos will be taken for the marketing campaign for a private sale. Thanks again to everyone who has assisted at the working bees and especially Neil and family for their work and organisation along with Terry and also Ashton for handling the Real Estate work.  Next (final) working bee to clean up garden is scheduled for Sat 29th July 2023 ready for photos and then sale!

Next week’s meeting will have a guest speaker from Greater Dandenong Libraries talking about their Big Summer Read which our club supported last year.

Dates for upcoming events

Saturday 29th July - The Rotary Club of Casey is running an Antique & Collectible Fair at the Pakenham Cultural Centre’s great hall.  Entry is $5 and “every penny raised on the day will go to charity”. See more photos at: facebook page of the Pakenham-Antique-and-Collectables-Fair

Tuesday August 1st – Social night.  Dinner at Positanos.

Tuesday August 15th – Healthy Minds Forum.  Please purchase tickets through the Humanitix link and let Leanne know how you will be able to help our club run this event.

As always please RSVP through club runner for meetings.

Stay warm and create hope in the world!

Looking forward to seeing members and partners at this social night (please register via club runner link to the left)

Our club contributed $600 to assist a young couple attend the Kambrya College Presentation Ball.  A note from one of the organisers stated:

Your support made this event possible and created a lasting impact on the lives of these deserving couples. One of the young ladies had undergone open-heart surgery as an infant, and her journey to this momentous occasion was a testament to resilience and hope. Additionally, the other couple, a brother and sister, were refugees who found safety and a new beginning in our community after fleeing from Jordan.

The compassion and care you have shown have left a profound impression on the hearts of these couples, as they felt the warmth of your helping hands and the embrace of a welcoming community. Your kindness has touched their lives in ways that words cannot fully express.

Rotary Club of Casey is running an Antique & Collectible Fair at the Pakenham Cultural Centre’s great hall on Lakeside Boulevard on Sat 29th July 2023 9-3:30 (so just enough time to fit in after the Seamons Crt working bee)

We are assured it it will be an enjoyable Saturday "winters" day out and there will be a great collection of dealers from all over Victoria and the hall, itself is completely full with these dealers. To top the day off there is also a great cafe on site. Entry is just $5 and every penny raised on the day will go to charity. More photos available at:
