Hi fellow Rotarians,

We had another busy week with a fellowship meeting on Tuesday night, including a fun and light- hearted Trivia session run by Martin Pater.

On Thursday a group of us visited the Monash Children's Cancer Centre for the 'official' presentation of $10,000 thanks to Kam & Christine for organising the event back in early March, the Restaurant owners, Mr. Phoon & Mary and to all who attended the Chinese New Year dinner or made personal donations.

We were privileged to have a tour of the facility, led by Dr. Peter Downie, who is the head of
Paediatric Haematology-Oncology and Director of the Children's Cancer Centre, then we were treated to a delicious morning tea and a Q&A session with the young, inspirational staff.

Then on Thursday night, our volunteers, Kam, Cherie, Janet, Hans, Ken & Lynn served our monthly meal at Cornerstone. Thank you to all of you and to Val for helping me out by delivering the food to Cornerstone.

The International Convention is now underway so please consider registering for a FREE 3-day House of Friendship pass.  They are available at the Registration desk at MCEC Exhibition Centre (doors 1 & 2) from tomorrow (Monday).

On behalf of all club members, I extend our sincere sympathy to Ken & Lynn Tam and family on the passing of Ken's father, yesterday.  We are thinking of all of you at this very sad time.

I'd like to send our very best wishes to Lois Faulkner for a speedy recovery following her knee replacement surgery on Wednesday.  Lois is now at St John of God Hospital in Berwick for rehabilitation.

Best Wishes also to Colin, who came out of hospital today after 10 days in Mulgrave Private Hospital.  Colin is recovering well and will be following Doctor's orders to 'take it easy' over the next few weeks.

There WILL NOT be a meeting on Tuesday night.  Our next meeting is on Tuesday 6th June, when we have a presentation from Windermere Child and Family Services, who are one of the recipients of a donation from our Car Show proceeds.

I look forward to seeing some of you this week at the Convention and will catch up with everyone at our next meeting.

Kind regards,

Leanne

Monash Children's Cancer Centre
On Thursday we had the privilege of visiting the Monash Children's Cancer Centre for the 'official
presentation' of our $10,000 donation. Many thanks to Kam, Christine all their family, Rotarians and
partners for attending the amazing Chinese New Year function in early March.  Also, a huge thanks
to Mr Phoon and Mary, owners of The Shangri La Inn for their hospitality, incredible food and support
of this fundraising event.
The professional team at Monash, led by Dr Peter Downie are absolutely inspirational, dedicated and
passionate.
We were blown away by the state-of-the-art facility and world class team. Their work is commendable,
providing treatment, care and support to their young patients and their families.
We look forward to continuing our fundraising efforts to provide financial contributions which helps
enhance patient care, training, research and innovation.
