Dear Fellow Rotarians,
I'd like to begin with a reminder to members to please RSVP to our meetings on ClubRunner. Thank you to those of you who have already put your attendance or apologies on, it certainly makes Martin's job a whole lot easier.
I always get concerned that there may be a health issue when I haven't heard from individuals and I do like to follow up to make certain all is ok.
REMINDER: Our guest speaker Frida Umuhoza is scheduled for Tuesday 11th April and I'm hoping to have a large number of people in attendance. I have invited other clubs in our cluster. Please invite your family and friends, they are very welcome.
I am aware of another event which will clash on this date, so would appreciate early RSVP's to make certain that it is worthwhile going ahead on this date.
Colin will be an apology on Tuesday night as he had parathyroid surgery on Friday, he is home from hospital and is on the road to recovery. Full recovery takes about 6 weeks, however I'm sure he'll be back at Rotary by next week, a little quieter than usual!
On Wednesday morning, I held another 'ladies morning tea' at St. James Church hall, this will be a fortnightly event.
Once again, the ladies had a lovely time and are all spreading the word, we had a few new faces and 2 apologies.
It is pleasing to see their confidence building and their willingness to share their stories and tell the group about their interests.
I would really appreciate having some extra help from our female Rotarians or partners for this project, this could be by attending to help with preparation and enjoy the morning OR by baking at home.
CORNERSTONE on Thursday night was interesting with no kitchen, no access to water for clean up and general disarray.
However, thanks to our amazing, hardworking team of Rotarians, Janet, Brian, Ben, Ken & Lynn, we were able to serve the meal and keep our hungry guests well fed and happy.
We had left over food, which I was able to turn into a 'pasta bake' and garlic bread then store in the freezer at DAA. We also have some cakes which will be used at our next meal service in April.
As with the Morning tea, I'd really appreciate help with food preparation and/or on the night for the next meal service which will be on Thursday April 28th. If anyone is keen to give a hand, please email or text me.
On Tuesday night, Martin has invited Malcolm Menzel to speak about 'Police Stories'.
Martin will chair the meeting and John Peck will be our Sergeant (who knows what he may have in store for us!)
Enjoy the rest of the day and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday night.
Kind regards,
Leanne
